Bodywork

Integrative and holistic massage therapy combines various techniques to address the whole person. Integrative massage blends different modalities, to create a personalized approach based on your unique needs; emphasizing balance, working not just on the muscles but also considering lifestyle factors, stress, and energy flow in the body. This approaches aim to treat the root causes of discomfort, not just the symptoms, promoting long-term healing. These offerings often involve a more intuitive touch, where the therapist adjusts the technique based on how the body responds.

Current offerings include:

  • Trigger Point
  • Myofascial
  • Active-Release Technique
  • Cranio- Release
  • Deep Tissue
  • Passive Stretching
  • Swedish
  • Acupressure
  • Reflexology
  • Reiki
  • Japanese Abdominal Massage
  • Hot Stones
  • RainDrop Aromatherapy Technique

The frequency of massage therapy depends on your needs and goals. Some people benefit from bi-weekly sessions, while others may prefer monthly or quarterly treatments. It's essential to listen to your body and discuss a treatment plan with your practitioner.

Regular Stress Maintenance: If you're using massage therapy for general wellness and stress relief, receiving a massage once a quarter may be sufficient to maintain your overall well-being.

Injury Recovery or Chronic Conditions: If you're recovering from an injury or managing a chronic condition you may benefit from more frequent sessions. In such cases, bi-weekly or monthly sessions may be recommended initially, gradually tapering off as your condition improves.

Athletic Maintenance/Specific Goals: If you have specific goals such as improving flexibility, reducing muscle soreness, or addressing a particular issue, your practitioner may recommend a tailored treatment plan with a specific frequency of sessions to achieve those goals.

To determine whether a full-body or focused massage is best for you, consider your needs and goals.

A full-body massage is ideal if you're looking for general relaxation, stress relief, or want to ease overall muscle tension. It’s great for maintaining muscle health, improving circulation, and promoting overall well-being.

On the other hand, a focused massage targets specific areas of discomfort, such as tight muscles, injuries, or chronic pain in one part of your body. If you have localized pain or muscle stiffness a focused session will provide more effective relief. Consider the time you have available—full-body sessions take longer than focused ones. Talk through any concerns or questions with your practitioner.

Before Massage:

  • Hydrate
  • Avoid Heavy Meals
  • Shower and moisturize
  • Reflect on areas you would like to focus on or any intentions you have for your session.

After a Massage:

  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water after your massage to help flush out toxins released during the session and prevent dehydration.
  • Gentle Stretching: to prolong the benefits of the massage and maintain flexibility, gentle stretching can help prevent muscle stiffness and soreness.
  • Take it Easy: Allow yourself some time to unwind after the massage, take a leisurely walk, read a book, or engage in other relaxing activities.
  • Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to how your body feels after the massage. While some soreness or tenderness is normal, excessive pain or discomfort could indicate overexertion during the session. If you experience any unusual symptoms, get in touch immediately.

Generally speaking, grooming is a personal preference and it is not a requirement. As a practitioner, I’m focused on helping you relax and relieve tension, not on appearance. Feel free to come as you are, and just make sure you're comfortable. The most important thing is your comfort and relaxation during the session. If you have any questions or concerns, just let me know!

health and safety

There are two forms of contraindications: systemic and localized.

Systemic contraindications refer to conditions that affect the whole body or a major system. When a person has a systemic contraindication, massage therapy may be unsafe because it could worsen the condition, affect the entire body, or lead to serious complications. Examples include: fever, certain stages of cancer, heart disease, blood clotting disorders, viral infections.

(To discuss your current or past health history and how massage may work in your current journey, book a free 20-consultation call here.)

Localized contraindications refer to conditions that affect a specific area of the body, meaning massage can be performed on other parts of the body, but the area with the issue should be avoided or treated with caution. In such cases, massage can still be beneficial, but adjustments should be made to avoid exacerbating the condition. Examples include: Bruising or contusions, open wounds, local inflammation, athlete's foot.

This is something that can be discussed at the beginning of your session.
